This seems to be universally revered here.  Am I alone in not actually liking it very much?

I enjoy it.  Lighthouse is a mighty fine light beer too.

But I generally am drinking MGD 64 or Mic Ultra at home, so having a real beer is a welcome change.

Belikin is my least favorite beer, it is ick.  Lighthouse is better.  I tolerate it at times while in Belize...when in Rome. My vote is that  8)Mexican beer is the best in the world (Dos XX, Modelo, Tecate, yum.... and some European beers really rock. Cool

I cannot stand Belikin. It is dreck. What about some nice Czech beer. It like the difference between AVGAS and whale oil.

I like to tell people that one of the best beers I ever tasted was Budweiser.  It's true, but only after I've got Americans all worked up over the relative merits of the various cans of cat's pee that pass for beer, I tell them that it was the Czech beer drunk at the brewery in Pilsen.  The closest thing to nectar one could hope to find.

To be fair, America does have some superb local breweries (micro breweries, I think you call them) producing beer that would pass muster anywhere in the world where good beer is valued.  But the national brands are universally awful.  Most national brands in Britain aren't much better, though what the smaller breweries produce is wonderful.  Good beer is best drunk within a few miles of where it is brewed - it doesn't travel well.  And in the case of an ale, what we mostly drink in England, it wants to be at room temperature.

My objection to Belikin is that it HAS to be drunk cold, to disguise the taste.  Once it warms up and you can taste it, it has rather a nasty edge to it.  IMO the worst is Premium, followed by Regular, then Stout and Lighthouse.  I think the best tasting beer they produce is Guinness and I rather like that, but at 7.5% I can't drink much of it.

At home I agree with Laurie - Mexican beer is my preference followed by European (love Czech Pilsen beers).  I'm not much on american micro - there is some bad stuff out there pretending to be beer.
Now Belkin's - Agree with peter that it has to be ice cold, but something comes over me when I'm on the beach in San Pedro ----

I love Belkin's!!!!  Grin
