I saw nothing "mean and arrogant" about clover's recent posts here to warrant such a response, but okay.

Both sides entrentched on this issue pretty darn quickly.  Do I find it unusual that building permits and cash materialized so quickly for this effort when a Greek Orthodox Church demolished by the attacks is still having problems getting permits to buils on their own land?  Yes.

However, we're talking 2 blocks from ground zero -- not 'at' ground zero.  The fact that so many have made a big deal out of this, has made it even more a pride issue -- for both sides.  "What you resist, persists" can be rewritten "what you resist, entrenches."  I think the Muslim community would want to express a gesture of goodwill and go elsewhere, but if they choose to stay, I must reluctantly say they have the right to be there.

To dismiss their rights so cavalierly is un-American and puts the rights of other groups in jeopardy down the line -- including Christians.

Maybe we should be up in arms anytime a Catholic Church goes up in our neighborhood. Or a Westboro Baptist Church. Or a Mormon Church.

So you are a politician after all. I don't see this as something the government should stop so there is no problem there. I do have a problem with my tax dollars being used to spirit this clown imam or whatever it is called around the middle east so he can raise money for their triumphant in-your-face mockery of the United States. I don't see the State Department sending any Catholic Priests, Rabbi's or Preachers around the holy land to solicit money. I don't give a damn what anybody says this Islam thing is more than a religion it is a way of life and it is pure poison. You can stand around and blather about rights all you want but I absolutely guarantee if I had lost someone in that heinous, barbarous episode of pure evil I would find a way to stop them and I might even use some of their methods.

If you were one of a thousand plus young men molested by a priest would you have issues with a Catholic church going up in your neighborhood?

If the Westboro Baptist Church went in 2 blocks from a military cemetery would people be up in arms?

Lots of religions have lots of issues driven by lots of crazy people. Lumping them all in together is a bad idea. If this Mosque went in un noticed it would have been a non issue. We always have to have the boogie man out there...

Reaper, I respectfully disagree.  The examples you gave are not relative.  3000 Americans, including your brothers, did not die in an act of religious war in your examples.  It is not about freedom of religion, it is about the sensitivity of the location.  It is a symbol.  NY City has many location where this can be built.  If they truly care they would build elsewhere.  I hope they will.

What does "ground zero mosque Imam" Feisal Abdul Rauf have in common with Obama, Cheney, Bill and Hillary Clinton, George HW Bush, John McCain, Zbigniew Brzezinski, Henry Kissinger, Alan Greenspan, Robert Rubin, Paul Wolfowitz and others?

All are members of the global-government organization, Council on Foreign Relations (CFR). Its all just made-for-TV diversion and division...

I don't know if this is a CFR conspiracy, but I have to agree it is certainly melodramatic "diversion and division."  Geesh, I think we have bigger fish to fry here.

Oh, and martin, I'm insulted that you refer to me as a politician Smiley

Sorry, I didn't mean to give offense but it is probably because for a few days I was actually reading Clover's posts. I have set the system to ignore him now so I should be a bit more pleasant.

Building Permit
I recently submitted a building permit application for a new house.

It was going to be 100 ft. tall and 400 ft. wide with 9 gun turrets at various heights and windows all over the place and a loud outside entertainment sound system. It would have had parking for 200 cars and I was going to paint it snot green with pink trim.

The City Council told me to forget about it.

So, I sent the application in again, but this time I called it a Mosque.

Work starts on Monday.
